Recycled semi circle ceramic pendant – magical bird

This pendant has been handcrafted from broken/recycled ceramics, and is formed into a semi circle shape. It measures approximately 5 cm in height and 7 cm in length. The cord is plaited and is attached to the pendant using a unique double binding method. The length of the cord is approximately 50 cm; it is designed to sit just below the collar bone. It fastens with a simple loop and toggle system; the toggle matching the china of the pendant.
The pendant features a richly coloured exotic magical bird, perhaps inspired by a pheasant. It is traditional English china and may date back to the 1940s or 50s.

The piece that has been formed into the pendant comes from the centre of a small cake plate, with an ornate floral border. The toggle is created from the border of the plate.
