Glass Pendant – Three Birds
$84.00
The three birds in this pendant are the riroriro/grey warbler; kereru/wood pidgeon and the piwakawaka/fantail – birds we often see or hear in our garden in Titirangi. The glass is coloured window glass sourced from leadlight supplies, which is cut and shaped on a diamond wheel and then spends three or four days in the stone tumbler to give it a sea-softened look and feel.
The beach stones are from either the East or West Coast of Te Wai Pounamu, the South Island (favourite beaches are Punakaiki and Birdlings Flat). At full length the necklace is about 70cm long and is fully adjustable; it can be worn high or low, by sliding the top toggles up or down. It can also be worn as a drop pendant, by sliding the 3 beach stones above the birds up. The pendant is designed to be played with, the birds moving around. The size of the largest of the three birds is approximately 5cm by 1.5 cm, while the smallest is 3cm by 1.2cm. Colours in the feature image are shades of red, purple, green, orange, and blue. Other colour combinations shown in the product gallery are shades of orange, green, red, and rainbow.
